Black Adam Gets Release Date for 2022
Per Hollywood Reporter, Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson revealed on his Instagram the Black Adam release date of July 29, 2022. The DC Warner Bros. superhero picture is set in the Shazam! universe and comes off the heels of DC's surprisingly positive press on Zack Snyder's Justice League, which dropped on HBO Max last Thursday on March 18, 2021. Jaume Collet-Serra is still slated to direct the film following his previous work with Dwayne Johnson and Emily Blunt on The Jungle Cruise movie for Disney. Black Adam was set to be in production last July 2020 but was pushed back to Spring 2021 due to the pandemic.
Earlier this month, Dwayne Johnson revealed his crazy workout routine to be in "the best shape of his life" in a Men's Health article, which covers everything from his diet to rigorous chest, triceps, legs, back, & shoulder workouts. He says he wants to "raise the bar" from his physique on Baywatch and the Fast & Furious movies so prepare to be in jaw dropping awe, if we are to believe the hype. It certainly shows in his Instagram posts, which reveal the 48 year-old actor training non-stop for his first superhero movie. Let's just hope the release date doesn't get pushed back yet again so we can see his hard work pay off.
As for the rest of the cast, it was recently announced that Pierce Brosnan would be joining and playing the role of classic hero, Dr. Fate. He joins a very well rounded cast that includes Aldis Hodge as the film's villain Hawkman, Noah Centineo as Atom Smasher, and Quintessa Swindell as Cyclone. Besides the cast, production start, and release date, not much else is known about the film. "A disruptive and unstoppable force of a message from the man in black himself," Johnson captioned in an Instagram post that showed Times Square featuring a Black Adam visual teaser. "The hierarchy of power in the DC Universe is about to change." Let's hope a trailer will drop soon during or after production to wet our beaks a bit.
Black Adam is set to be released in theaters on July 29, 2022 from Warner Bros. Pictures.
