Denzel Washington to join Black Panther 2?

According to a 4chan post on Reddit a couple of weeks ago, 26 rumors leaked about Marvel Studios' future plans and among them was Denzel Washington in talks for a Black Panther 2 role. Now this is 4chan, so take the news with a grain of salt. There is no confirmation from the actor's camp or the studio, but if this is true, it is indeed a noteworthy piece of news for the film and for the industry. Chadwick Boseman, himself, once said about Denzel Washington, "There is no 'Black Panther' without Denzel Washington", honoring Washington for the 2019 AFI Lifetime Achievement Award. Denzel also had nothing but kind words honoring Chadwick's memory, calling him a "gentle soul".

The 4chan also mentions the rumor that Killmonger, played by Michael B. Jordan, will be brought back in the sequel. Whether it's from flashback or if he will be (spoiler) revived back from the dead is uncertain. But I have always supported the fan theory that Killmonger's character of Erik Stevens being brought back and rehabilitated from evil was the most respectful and logical choice from a story and industry perspective. Tenoch Huerta was confirmed to be cast in a villain role and is rumored to be playing Namor. We can only speculate what role Denzel will be playing. But to cast an actor with such a prolific career in a glorified cameo role would be disrespectful at the least so it must be something substantial.

Denzel is still in great shape at 66 years old, gunning down bad guys in The Equalizer movies. But he is one of our greatest living dramatic actors, so I would expect his role to be something with great substance and gravitas, if not downright Shakespearean or Elizabethan (his latest filmography shows a role in The Tragedy of MacBeth as Lord MacBeth). Could he be a leader of a long lost tribe? Or a long lost uncle of T'Challa? Or even a character from outside of Wakanda? A US S.H.I.E.L.D. or S.W.O.R.D. agent perhaps? We know for sure he will be reunited with Angela Bassett (Malcolm X) if they do in fact share any scenes together. And we know he is working with Michael B. Jordan as a director on Journal for Jordan, which is still in production right now. Whatever role or capacity is involved, it's great to hear Denzel be linked to this franchise, as the influence will come full circle.
